Fast away the old year passes, but it seems the gardening season isn't quite ready to pass on yet. Squirrelhaven is still entirely visible due to a complete dearth of snow, not even a flake. Unseasonable weather with highs in the upper 60s has called forth blooms from this confused hellebore with aspirations of being mistaken for a pink Christmas rose (Helleborus niger). This particular seedling hellebore is in the way back of the garden, not visible from the house. So, the question arises: should I leave it to nature, or should I cut the bloom stalk and enjoy it indoors?
